Apple, after the successful launch of the iPhone 16e, is reportedly preparing for another major release. According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the company is expected to unveil the new MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip in March. While an exact launch date isn’t confirmed yet, they are soon to be announced. If the reports are true, the timings would align closely with last year’s M3 MacBook Air launch. The recent reports also suggest that shipments of the new MacBooks may have already begun, further hinting at an imminent release.
The upcoming MacBook Air is expected to bring only a few refinements, with the biggest highlight being the introduction of Apple’s M4 chip. Some reports also suggest that the base model will come with 16GB of RAM, and Apple may also upgrade connectivity by replacing the USB 4 or Thunderbolt 3 port with Thunderbolt 4. Some other alleged enhancements include the inclusion of the Center Stage camera feature and an optional nano-texture display, which has already been introduced in other M4-powered Macs.
The MacBook Air is expected to launch in March, followed by the expected release of iOS 18.4 in May, and the much-anticipated WWDC 2025 event in June. Apple is reportedly also planning to refresh several other devices this year, including the M4 Mac Studio and M4 Mac Pro, both likely to arrive in the summer. Meanwhile, speculation is growing about the M5 chip, which could make its debut in the MacBook Pro between October and November, while an M5-powered iPad Pro is expected to launch in early 2026.
Apple has more in store for this year. The company is expected to introduce a second-generation AirTag with an enhanced Bluetooth range. An upgraded iPad Air and a new 11-inch iPad are also expected to debut in the first half of the year. Moving into the second half, Apple is reportedly planning to launch a refreshed HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV 4K.
